Rachel Cortez - Program Manager, Fund for City Schools

Coming from a food-centered family and cultural heritage, Rachel has had a love for cooking since she was a child.  After graduating from Boston University with a B.A. in Computer Science and working in that field, she left to attend the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York.  After graduating from the CIA, Rachel worked at Restaurant Zanghi in Westport, CT and Food Design Catering in Greenwich, CT until she took time off to raise her two daughters.  She is passionate about teaching healthy cooking and making it accessible to all kids. Rachel is a teacher with Kids Cooking Green and the leading force behind the newly-formed Kids Cooking Green Fund for City Schools. In addition to her work with Kids Cooking Green, Rachel teaches cooking classes at Haley House and works with Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters.
