One Day Workshops
The following workshops are appropriate for your school, organization or farmers’ market. The cost of each workshop is based on 14 children. With prior approval of the instructor, additional children may participate for an extra charge.
Please note that cooking facilities (stove and oven) are required for some classes. Unless specified, classes can be presented in a classroom without a kitchen. For cleanliness, a room without a carpet is preferred for all classes.

Pasta Making /Italian Memory Game

Grades 2 – 6
Let’s make some pasta and talk about life in Italy for children! We will make pasta dough from scratch using local eggs and semolina flour. Then, we will learn how they get all that great ricotta cheese filling into handmade ravioli! We will eat what we make and learn a traditional Italian memory game.
Food Network Style Fruit Smoothie Competition/Nutrition Lesson

Grades 2 – 6
Get your blenders ready…set…go! Kids will meet first with a nutritionist to talk about a day in the life of a kid and what a typical kid eats! Why is it important to eat an array of colorful fruits and veggies?
Kids will then be divided into small groups, given a measuring cup and array of local fruits, yogurts and 100% juice and be asked to step up to the blender and make their version of a great tasting smoothie. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. Each child goes home with a homemade recipe card and a full belly.
Breakfast for Lunch!

What could be better then pancakes made from scratch with local maple syrup? How about learning how to make your own butter? We will follow a recipe and then sit down and eat our pancakes while reading Eric Carle’s book, Pancakes Pancakes.
Let’s Bake and Decorate our own Healthy Homemade Cookies!*

Let’s make and decorate some homemade New England cookies!
Each child will prepare a batter, then bake and decorate their own box of delicious cookies to bring home from class! We’ll make three kinds of cookies: oatmeal raisin, chocolate orange and sugar cookies. Come learn how to use a pastry bag and to decorate a cookie like a professional baker!
Homemade Pies!*

Grades 2 – 6
We will explore how to make homemade apple and pumpkin pie from scratch. Learn the technique of making a great pie. We’ll make the dough, roll it out, and then fill it with your favorite fruit flavors! Each child will go home with their own mini pie! Delicious!
Crepe Making*
1 hour 45 minutes
Grades 2 – 6
Learn to make fresh fruit crepes and hand whipped cream. Kids will make the crepe batter, learn knife skills while cutting up the fresh fruit and whip the cream. We will then sit down and enjoy what we have prepared! It will be delicious and nutritious.
