Joe Rancatore opened his first “Ranc’s” store in Belmont in 1985. The Lexington location followed in 2004. All of the ice cream is homemade in a small batch freezer at his factory behind the Lexington store. The ice cream is made with a 14% butter fat base and the yogurt is 2% butter fat with 3 active yogurt cultures. The Ranc’s sorbet has no fat and is dairy-free. Ranc’s has a philosophy of not adding sugar to their products except for a few flavors where the addition of sugar is necessary for texture. You can tell with a single taste that the natural flavors really shine through!
